Fillers:

Effect fillers

Fillers are used to soften wrinkles by injecting a filler under the skin, but they can also be used to enhance lip fullness or restore volume and contours in the face. There are different types of fillers available, depending on the desired duration of the effect:

  • Temporary Fillers: Fully broken down by the body within a few months to a year.
  • Semi-permanent Fillers: Slowly broken down and remain visible for a longer time.
  • Permanent Fillers: Are rarely or never broken down by the body, but are less commonly used today due to associated risks.

Types of Fillers

Temporary:

  • Hyaluronic Acid (HA):
    • Effect: 6-12 months
    • Safety: Safe and fully biodegradable.
    • Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body, making it a popular choice for facial volumization, wrinkle smoothing, and lip enhancement. Since it is fully biodegradable, it is often chosen for its minimal risk and temporary nature.
    • Brands: BELOTERO (Merz), Juvederm, etc.Radiesse filler
    • Suitable for: Both deep and superficial wrinkles, as well as lip enhancement.

    • Lips: A special version of HA is used, which is longer-lasting and mixed with lidocaine (local anesthesia) for added comfort.

    • Safety: If unwanted effects occur, they can be easily dissolved with an enzyme injection.

  • Radiesse:
    • Base: Calcium hydroxylapatite (mineral).

    • Effect: 1-1.5 years.

    • Suitable for: Deep wrinkles, skin firming, and lifting (face, neck, décolleté, and hands).

  • Permanent Fillers:
    • Autologous Fat (Your own fat):
    • Ideal for: Larger volumes, often combined with a facelift.

    • Applications: Buttocks, face, MICROVET and NANOVET techniques.

    • Other Permanent Fillers (e.g., Silicone):
    • Note: These are no longer used due to risks of scarring and other complications.
